Collection: Coastlines 2022

Launching 30/10

This collection of coastal paintings reflect memories of summer, a reminder of sandy beaches and fresh breezes. These pieces are mixed media using a combination of watercolour monotypes layered with gouache and water-soluble pencils. Creating one of a kind pieces filled with emotion and unique textures.

I was lucky to travel to a few places across the UK during the summer, made it down to Cornwall in June for the first time and was overwhelmed by the beauty of the place. Since that trip I have also visited coasts in Scotland, Wales and the East coast, each one with a different beauty. From these summer trips this collection was forged. I wanted to reflect the time spent at these magical places and the feelings and relationships to each space.

I began to explore monotypes also with this collection which is something I have not explored since I left university, the monotypes create a one off original print of a hand painted image. Working with watercolours is often quite freeing as you have to let yourself run with the outcome of the paint but then mono typing with watercolours brings so much more

My practice is very process driven and from this comes the need to play and constantly try new things and new ways of working. Creating these works using a new process has been so insightful and given me so much to take forward within my work.

I hope you love this collection as much as I have loved creating it.
